Your music according to a fruit fly

The score is a relative auditory-response index. It reflects how much modeled activity the fly auditory system produces in response to the music, not a literal measurement of happiness or enjoyment.
The study behind it
The model is based primarily on a 2025 study by Pang and colleagues on how female Drosophila respond to courtship song. The researchers compared several ways of describing auditory neural activity and found that a model with adaptation and slower accumulation of sound information matched the recorded responses and predicted female movement during song better than the alternatives they tested. This site adapts that idea into a much smaller model for arbitrary human music; it is not a full simulation of the fly brain.

No profile is created. The app does not send your Spotify top tracks or analysis results to a Fly Taste database. OAuth state and tokens are kept in browser session storage for the current session.
Audio analysis happens in the browser. Preview audio is retrieved transiently and is not saved by the app.
